Happy 7th Birthday, Silas

Dear Silas,

Oh, how excited you were as your 7th birthday drew near! You were full of ideas and hopes and anticipation. Although perhaps not all of your wishes were granted, I think you had a wonderful day. It started with our delivering cupcakes to your 1st grade classroom at GCS. I love that in the USA it is so simple to place orders at the grocery story for a colorful treat like this one! Daddy picked you up early from school because you were in desperate need of a haircut. He took you to his favorite place, the "Men's Grooming Garage" and you did indeed look like a handsome little man when you were done. He also drove you to For-Mar to enjoy the day's sunshine and the beautiful nature walks there.

Back at home, we decorated for your little party and prepared gift bags for your invited guests. We asked the two Denney families to join us with all of their little sons, so we anticipated a houseful of boisterous boy cousins! No sooner had they arrived than you gave us all a scare. Without warning, you and two others took scooters and headed to the next-door church parking lot to play. This would have been fine if we'd been give notice, but we were searching for you and concerned for your safety. Eventually, we all spent some time at the church playground where the kids played and the adults talked. We hadn't anticipated how long ordering pizza might take on a Friday night, so this helped pass the waiting time!

It was so much fun (and so very loud, ha!) as little boys ran circles around the house and enjoyed themselves. Humorously, the birthday party ended as it began - with missing children! Only this time, it was because a few curious cousins had locked themselves into Mommy and Daddy's bedroom to investigate a wrapped gift they found there. (It was a Lego set I had waited to give you until later.) We laughed a lot when it was all said and done, and it was definitely a memorable birthday!

Silas, we love you so much and are so thankful God allowed us to be your parents. Your enthusiasm, stories, vocabulary, curiosity, and especially your love for Bible stories and truths from God's Word are such a delight to us. Happy 7th Birthday!

All my love,
Mommy
