Why I Love September in Chile: Programs

I always enjoy seeing my children in school programs, but never more than during Fiestas Patrias. The colorful clothing, the creative presentations and of course the crazy antics of hundreds of kids anxious for their turn in the spotlight!

I especially enjoy the representation of each part of Chile's cultural heritage. This morning I sent to school one Mapuche daughter; one Pascuense son; and one lovely flower salesgirl. The first two (Eva and Owen) represented native tribes from southern Chile and Easter Island respectively, while Isabel played in a scene from La Pergola de las Flores which is a famous Chilean play. They all did a wonderful job!
