At the Zoo

On Tuesday we declared a "vacation" day from school and headed to our local small zoo with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. It was a fun change of pace for all of us. At one point we found an unexpected display of "animals" ... just look at Daddy's face! :)

I'm not actually sure this cage was meant for playing but it was in the playground, so the kids had the unique chance to experience for a few seconds what life is like for some of the animals. As you can tell, Owen thought it was pretty cool!

One of the kids' favorite stops was the goats' pen - not all that exotic, but especially thrilling because there were two baby goats to see and pet. Ian and Alec were alternately thrilled and scared to be this close to the animals! Eva, of course, wished she could take the baby goat home for a new pet.

For a small zoo, they actually have quite a few lions. Most were napping, but this female lion gave the kids a lesson in hygiene as she licked herself clean. They found it quite interesting!

All five kiddos posed for this group picture and made Mommy and Mom-Mom very happy. I am so thankful for our family and for these recent special visits and memories made with our children's grandparents.

Looks like a lot of fun, and a great way to honor Chile's holiday for the children and reach out with the Good News!
