I think I know why I am feeling so weary …
In the past eighteen months, on the “family front” we have:
- Worked with three different adoption agencies
- Completed yet another home study
- Paid (and lost) over $2,000 in adoption fees
- Attended half a dozen different meetings or required workshops
- Spoken with several potential birth mothers
- Been awarded (and then returned) $10,000 in adoption grants
- Exchanged dozens of e-mails and phone calls with potential agencies
- Withdrawn from one agency on moral grounds (sanctity of life)
- Investigated adoptions from
- Set up a crib, purchased bedding, decorated a nursery … and taken it down
- And last, but certainly not least, lost a baby to miscarriage
Of course, this is all in addition to moving cross-country within the
