Personal Thoughts

I think I know why I am feeling so weary …

In the past eighteen months, on the “family front” we have:

  • Worked with three different adoption agencies
  • Completed yet another home study
  • Paid (and lost) over $2,000 in adoption fees
  • Attended half a dozen different meetings or required workshops
  • Spoken with several potential birth mothers
  • Been awarded (and then returned) $10,000 in adoption grants
  • Exchanged dozens of e-mails and phone calls with potential agencies
  • Withdrawn from one agency on moral grounds (sanctity of life)
  • Investigated adoptions from Haiti, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Uganda and Chile
  • Set up a crib, purchased bedding, decorated a nursery … and taken it down
  • And last, but certainly not least, lost a baby to miscarriage

Of course, this is all in addition to moving cross-country within the US, and moving internationally outside of the US! I guess only time will reveal the lessons meant to be learned …

That is a lot to experience. May you receive all of the grace of God as you continue.
