I have recently found some blogs written by young women who are volunteering their time in children's homes overseas. Two of the girls are volunteering at the Children of the Promise creche in Haiti and their blog, Rachel and Arielle's Orphanage Mission, shows pictures and tells stories that will make you both laugh and cry. Their most recent story describes the chaos of feeding, bathing, and clothing 65 children, all under the age of 5!
The second blog, http://amyandbethany.blogspot.com/, records the efforts of two young women who are planning to travel to Uganda and minister in the Amani Baby Cottage. This is another home for 60+ children ages 0-5. The pictures are heartwarming, but the reality behind them - that in so many countries there are SO MANY children without the basic necessities of life! - is heartbreaking.
I do not know these young women but I am humbled by not only their willingness, but their excitement to leave all that is familiar, to give of their energy and youthfulness ... to change diapers, wipe away tears, calm tantrums, and share the love of our Father-God with these precious little orphans.
"Jesus Loves the Little Children, All the Children of the World, Red, Brown, Yellow, Black and White, They Are Precious in His Sight, Jesus Loves the Little Children of the World ..."

"Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow, blue and green
Wierdest kids you've ever seen,
Jesus loves the little children of the world"
Isn't it lovely, alisha
