Still Reading

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about reading and received some great comments about what others are reading as well. I lament having to admit that the books I mentioned are still unfinished, though I have made some (small) progress. I have also picked up one or two more to read, including Holding Time by Martha Welch. This was required reading for us some years ago by the adoption agency we were working with at the time, and is a fascinating concept which we have used occasionally since then. Maybe sometime I will write a separate post about our experience and observations with that.

This morning I was visiting a blog where the author recommended yet another book which I added to my Amazon wishlist. Do you have one of those? Mine is filled to overflowing and I've informed my husband that I really need a shopping spree and a reading retreat!

As I look through the list I could organize it by categories: General Adoption (titles such as Toddler Adoption; The Connected Child; Attaching in Adoption; and Adopting the Hurt Child) - Transracial/International Adoption (Black Baby, White Hands; The Color of Water; Angels of a Lower Flight; Both Ends Burning; An Unbroken Agony) - Parenting (Character Matters; Parenting with Love and Logic; Age of Opportunity; Family Driven Faith) - Compassion Ministries (More Than Kindness; When Helping Hurts; Ministries of Mercy) - and the list could go on and on.

Recently a friend introduced me to GoodReads, a place to keep track of books you have read, are reading, and hope to read. I love the idea because it also allows you to write down your thoughts, opinions, favorite quotes, etc. and to read what others have posted about the books. I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet since I am still trying to finish at least one of the books I've started! :)

Any thoughts or recommendations from other readers out there? I'm all ears!

Hey Steph, I cann't really help you out because I'm the same way there are so many books that I want to read and have started but not finished. Some of the same books are on my reading list or want list. I'm reading Grace base parenting but only the first few chapters, I'm also reading about ten other books and only through the first few pages or chapters. I have a whole bookshelve of books that I still need to read. A book retreat would be great.
I hope that eveyrhing is going well with you guys. Keep up the good work that you guys are doing.
Love ya a bunch,
Stacey
Hugs to everyone of you.

Did you read the Blind Side by Michael Lewis? Very nice book.

I like to read about lots of things! I always skim the New York Times Bestseller list to see what looks good!

I am always a year or two behind it : ) Maybe 3 years if I really think about it! Oh well!

A good book is a treasure for certain! : )

Hope you had a happy mothers day!
