A few weeks ago (prior to our leaving for Santiago and just as our family was beginning to mend from the awful flu) a very special event took place. Eleven young people from our ABWE seminary in Santiago arrived in Iquique full of excitement, faith and determination on a missions trip to assist in our Alto Hospicio ministry. What a blessing!
For an entire week, this group diligently met, prayed and then pounded the pavement to share Christ with anyone who would listen throughout the community of Hospicio. All in all they had personal contact with around two hundred individuals, many of whom acknowledged their need of a Savior.
In the evenings, the students would hold a special meeting at our church facility with music, testimonies, and preaching from God's Word. Although it was often discouraging to see very few visitors despite the hours and miles invested in making these contacts, the students didn't waver in their commitment and were a blessing to all with whom they made acquaintance.
On Saturday afternoon, the FTBB students hosted a "children's club." Approximately 25 children were in attendance, and half a dozen parents also came along to observe. It was a fun and exciting event, with lots of laughter and a clear teaching of how even children can accept the free gift of salvation and begin a new life in Christ.
We praise God for the willingness of this group of students to give up their winter break from classes in order to invest in the lives of people they may never see again. Now the baton has been passed to our ministry team to follow up with these many contacts and continue to show them God's love. Pray that we will be effective and faithful in doing so, that the efforts of these young people would not be in vain.
Enjoy the pictures below - they are of the children's ministry that Saturday afternoon. So many smiling faces in one special place. God is good!

So very cool, Steph! Brings to mind our many summers of CEF ministry! It will be neat to see who is in heaven because of these types of mission team endeavors, won't it?
