we just don't know

we just don't know what happened to it. worst-case scenario is robbery, but having painstakingly reviewed the events of the past two days we really don't think it was stolen. it could have been, but we honestly think the wallet was at the house on wednesday night. pedro remembers thinking he should take it with him to church on thursday night but he does not remember if he actually did so or not. second worst-case scenario (seeming more likely every hour) is that it fell out of his pocket somewhere. perhaps it even got thrown away in one of the several huge bags of garbage we've disposed of while trying to unpack boxes in the backyard.

i have scoured our room (the most obvious spot) countless times on my hands and knees and it is not there. nor is it in any of the "usual" places. we are getting over our shock and starting to come to terms with the fact that it may not be found. now i need to gather information on what to do to replace cards and important id information ... hoping not having a cedula won't impede our travel next week ... also glad we gave our brother-in-law a power of attorney for selling our car in santiago and hoping it will miraculously sell before february 10! otherwise pedro was supposed to drive it to iquique but he can't do so without a license or identification.

it would be so much easier if it would just turn up ... please keep praying ...

(p.s. i know that writing in all lower-case letters is not grammatically correct - i was an english major - but when you are feeling as low as i have been feeling today, it just somehow seems fitting!)

Stephanie, so sorry to hear about the missing wallet! I know how frustrating that can be! I hope you are able to find it soon, or replace its contents soon...
