x-ray of Owen's injury

We are going home! Once Owen wakes up, anyway. The reports all came back completely normal, with the exception of his cranial x-ray which showed some mucus growths that will need to be checked out further (this did not surprise us and actually may have saved us a step because we had already spoken to his pediatrician about the fact that Owen's sleep apnea seemed to have returned despite having had his adenoids removed a year and a half ago.)
We are praising God for answered prayers, especially in regards to "the truth shall set you free" ... although we knew that this was purely an accident and that Owen has had no other injuries, there is always an element of anxiety that something will be misconstrued ... but God is faithful and for that we give Him all the praise!

We are still at the hospital, waiting for Owen's pupils to dilate so he can have them checked by the ophthalmologist. After that we should receive the results of this morning's x-rays as well as the eye exam and if everything is in order we will be allowed to go home. Owen is comfortable as far as his leg goes but has been very upset and angry with all the rigamarole of x-rays and eye drops and etc. He is currently kicking and screaming as he receives his 4th or 5th round of eye drops ... yes, that many since the first time the doctor stopped by he said Owen's eyes weren't dilated enough and that very dark eyes often need extra drops and time to dilate. It's been a tough morning in that sense - all Owen wants is to go home! Thanks so much for continuing to pray!
Yes, we arrived safely back in Chile! We actually reached the house around 5:30 a.m. this morning and immediately headed to bed ... only to be unexpectedly awakened two hours later with an emergency phone call from Uncle Mark. Long story short, due to a freak accident we rushed Owen to the hospital around 8:00 this morning and discovered that he had broken the femur on his right leg cleanly in half. It is now 7:00 p.m. and he is recovering from anaesthesia and a procedure to set the bone and cast him (as you can obviously see!) He is doing pretty well and just wants to go home, so it could be a long night.
As a matter of legal course in cases involving injuries such as these, tomorrow he will have to undergo x-rays of the rest of his body as well as see an opthalmologist before he can go home (to rule out abuse.) The traumatologist told us not to be offended by this and has been very nice but of course it still doesn't feel good. Oh well! Owen will most likely have to have this cast removed and the procedure repeated to re-set his leg in another week and half, because today the bones were very slippery. It will be a challenge but we know God has some reason for this and so we are just doing our best to trust Him and take it one minute at a time!
We greatly appreciate your prayers ... as I always say, never a dull moment in the Garcia family (really I feel like we are living a soap opera sometimes, lol) ... please pray for Owen's recovery and also for Uncle Mark and Aunt Jenn who feel so badly about this happening on his last day with them but as we have told them repeatedly it could have happened anywhere, anytime and everything's going to be okay. (We love you guys!) Thanks so much for praying!

If Owen is any indication of how Steven will be, my life is going to be interesting!! Is his cast on his other leg as well? It looked like it in the picture.
I'll be praying for Owen (and you!).
Oh my gosh!!!!!!! I will be praying! I know this is not what you had in mind to come home to. Nothing like throwing yourself right back into things... :-)
What a sad picture! Our little Owen is going to be such an expert hospital patient at such a young age. We are praying for you all. Give all the kids our love!
Garcia family,
We feel so bad seeing that picture. We will be praying for Owen and your family that all goes well.
I am so glad that you are able to go home. The hospital is not place for a 3 year old. I hope he is feeling better. Give him a big hug and a kiss!
Love,
Melissa
Poor Owen. he sure does have a rough time of it huh? :-(
Oh I am so sorry. I know how the whole cast thing goes. Since Krystina was in one all summer. We will be praying for you as you go through this.
Oh my gosh Steph! Poor little guy, I've never even seen a cast wrap around like that. It is one thing after another for you guys, huh? (((HUGS))) for you and Owen.
For some reason all the print in your blog is dark along with the page so I can't read any of it but I can see the picture of Owen. Oh no! I know whatever happened this was a really difficult situation to come home to... blessing to you all and fast healing for Owen!
