Taste of Chile - Maní Confitado

Maní confitado are basically redskin peanuts cooked in caramelized sugar. Yummy! Outside our local grocery store, a woman makes fresh batches all day long and serves them hot. It is my favorite after-shopping snack to boost my energy on the way home.

The only problem with it, is that it is very sticky – as the girl who sat in front of me at a concert when I was teenager can attest. My bag of maní confitado accidentally burst as I was trying to open it, and most of it landed in her in her flowing long hair … um, not my finest moment (nor hers!)

But, it hasn’t kept me from still enjoying the maní ... (:
