The Saga Continues

I called the guy at Registro Civil for the millionth time today. Every time I call, he feeds me a morsel of information and tells me to call back. Almost every time I call back, the line is busy! And then every so often I get through.

Last time, he told me that our car paperwork was being held up in an attorney’s office because it had been rejected by the necessary agency downtown – presumably due to the original notarized car documents having Pedro’s full name including the suffix, prior to its Chilean elimination!

This time, he told me that he wasn’t going to lie to me, that four months have gone by and this is starting to seem like a joke (tell me something I don’t know!) and that he found out today that the paperwork is lost. Yes, LOST.

He assured me that he would be receiving a new copy from the notary tomorrow and would personally take it downtown on Monday, so I ought to call him back on Tuesday.

I will believe it when I see it.

In the meantime, we continue to pay for daily passes on the highway – over 30.000 pesos and counting …
