At the Swamp

Ours was a two-family vacation to Padre Island last week, with six children between us. As any good parent on budget would do, we looked for inexpensive outings that the kids would enjoy! One of these was a trip to the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Trail, where we enjoyed the nature trail boardwalk. On our first visit at evening, we mostly saw turtles, a few birds, and a beautiful sunset (that picture is on a previous post.) On our second visit, however, we were determined to find an alligator for the kids' sake! See for yourselves what we discovered ...

Look to the far left of the picture ...

Owen's expression when he saw the alligator for the first time ...

Our new friend gliding through the water ...

Jhocy on the boardwalk ...

Logan was enthused about the alligator, but not about the camera!

Eva enjoying the last rays of sunshine ...

See that red eye peering at us?

Isabel with her grin and wild hair ...

And perhaps the best picture of the weekend ... precious little Jesse!

Great pictures. I love the one of Eva -- such a natural beauty. I'll be posting a pic of an alligator soon as well, we saw a couple while on vacation.
