Adoption Anticipation

Don't forget ... November is National Adoption Month ... so what better time to journal some extra thoughts on the subject! I hope that perhaps reading the feelings and thoughts we are experiencing might encourage others who are in the process or considering the possibility of adopting. Just yesterday, I shared in our MOPS group that we are waiting to adopt and I had two ladies come speak with me individually about their desire to look into adoption!
...............

Whenever I go into Owen's room now, I take a minute to stop by the crib and just look at it ... and to say a prayer for the baby we are asking God to place in it.

I have mixed emotions sometimes, excitement from seeing an actual waiting crib in my house ... love for the child we hope will come ... some anxiety that perhaps the crib won't get filled and how difficult a disappointment that will be ... a feeling of "missing" that baby as a member of our family even though we don't even know him/her yet ...

Isabel's reaction to the crib was priceless. She saw it in pieces that morning and asked what it was for. I told her it was for "baby Ian" (that is how the girls pray for this baby - as "baby Ian") and she got very excited and said, "Ohhh, I can't wait! I just can't wait!!" It was so cute. Then, we set up the crib and bedding while she was napping and told her we had a surprise when she woke up. She ran into the room, stopped and stared and her jaw dropped in amazement ... then she starting jumping and squealing in excitement!

As you probably can tell, we have fun sharing this anticipation as a family. If Mommy and Daddy forget to pray for the new baby, the girls are quick to remind us! As a matter of fact, Eva is so excited that she has expanded her prayers to ask for "baby Ian" AND "the twins - a boy and a girl!" Hmm ... now that would be interesting!

I like the name Ian - more so the meaning of the name. BUT, right before Isabella - Kenny's brother and his wife had a little boy and named him Ian, to which Kenny said, well I guess God is going to give us a girl. :) If we ever are blessed with a little boy I have no idea what we will name him now.
