On Wednesday night, my nephew Benjamin (1 1/2 years old) was admitted to the hospital after not being able to keep anything down, even Pedialyte. Through testing and initially attempting other (less invasive) procedures, the doctors were able to determine that a virus had caused intestinal blockage (called intussusception) and surgery was required. Benjamin was in surgery for an hour and when I spoke with my sister Terri last night, he was sedated and being given morphine for the pain. For the next few days, he needs to rest and recover. Please pray for the Benjamin, his mom and dad (Terri and Dave) and brothers (Jonathan and Sabastian) as they take care of him and one another!

Yesterday, Owen had a follow-up visit with the ENT specialist. The results of his sleep study showed that Owen had 16 apneas throughout the night and his oxygen level dropped to 70 percent. Based on this, the doctor recommended an adenoidectomy which will take place on November 8. It is a short outpatient surgery, since only the adenoids - not the tonsils - will be removed. However, Owen will have to be put under general anaesthesia and so we do covet your prayers for safety and a quick recovery. The doctor thinks that this procedure should make Owen feel better all around. Thank you for praying!
