Accident Prayer Update, April 7 '06

Dear Praying Friends,

We received this update from ABWE missionary Dave Rogers yesterday evening:

First, DOUG KREEGER did NOT have to be operated for a punctured lung.
Rather, he has suffered multiple breaks and fractures in his ribs, some of
which the doctors are concerned might cause bleeding. He also suffered a
deep bruise in a lung, which must be monitored. They are not moving him to
another hospital yet, since they are concerned that movement might cause
more problems. There is another hospital in Valdivia, but at present he is
medicated and resting in the critical care unit of the regional hospital.
Sharon, his wife, is there with him.

Secondly, SCOTT RUSSELL suffered minor skin lesions, but has persistent
discomfort in his neck. As a result, they sent him back to the town near
where the accident took place (called Paillaco) and had it examined there.
Nikki told me that he can come home, possibly tomorrow. The bus company
will get them back to Santiago.

Thirdly, DAVID BERRIOS, a friend and brother from the San Bernardo
church was also traveling with them, and was not injured. He may return to
Santiago tomorrow as well.

Fourthly, MARCOS HUACHAPAN, a friend and brother also from the San
Bernardo Church was killed in the accident. This is a major matter of
prayer, since he was a father of two small children. His widow, Roxana,
traveled to Valdivia with the Chilean national pastor who works with the
Kreegers. Please uphold her in prayer.

We all are very grateful for the assistance that several missionary
families from the Bible Baptist mission are giving Sharon and the others
who traveled. Other brethren from churches in the region have also stepped
to help. A brother from Santiago (named Hugo Zuniga) also traveled down to
assist them all. While there are questions, concerns and many problems, we
can certainly say that the testimony of the greatness of God's people
couldn't be better! May the name of Christ be praised for this.

Thanks for your continued prayers. There are still many things to take
care, not the least of which is the family whose father and husband lost
his life in this accident. Pray that the testimony of faith in Christ
shine through clearly

Because of Christ,

Pedro & Stephanie Garcia
