I just returned from a Sunday School teacher's meeting at church. It was supposed to start at 6:00 p.m. We discussed the time change at our last meeting and agreed that getting together a little earlier was better, because several of the husbands play soccer on Tuesday nights.
A reminder was also announced this past Sunday morning about the meeting date and time. Even so, I must confess that I didn't leave the house tonight until ten minutes before 6:00, and then I stopped at the grocery story for juice and snacks for the meeting since I figured no one would get there on time anyway.
I was wrong - my fellow (American) missionary wife was waiting outside when I arrived. We unlocked the church, got out the goodies, and proceeded to put together fourteen plates of chips and cake and to pour fourteen cups of juice. Then we sat down to chat and to wait.
We waited.
And waited.
And waited.
At a little after 7:00, the first teacher arrived. At a little after 7:30, the second teacher arrived. After that, no one else arrived. Needless to say, the meeting was quite short and to the point!
Sometimes, that's just the way things go. What more can I say?

This gives me a chuckle and brings back memories of my time in Brazil. Meetings always started one to 1.5 hours after they were "supposed" to start. :)
At least there was cookies and juice to be had : )
