Waiting for Him, Waiting for His Works

The past week has been probably the most intense one in our ministry experience thus far. We have faced drama and discord, but also deep joy and satisfaction in the work God has given us to do here in Iquique. We were blessed with ten couples at our first matrimonios meeting and fifteen young adults at our first jovenes mayores (college-and-career) gathering. We were called on for crisis counseling with its accompanying roller coaster of emotions. At church our water situation (or lack thereof) continued but is now finally being corrected. Sickness rocked first our colleagues', then our, household.

Through it all God has been faithful. At times we have laughed; at times we have cried; at times we have gritted our teeth and proclaimed that the enemy will NOT have a victory here. But amazingly, we are not discouraged - we are expectant of what God is doing.

This verse spoke to my heart today. Certain details of our future look less clear today than they did a week ago. Others, perhaps a bit clearer. But this we know and trust: our God "works for those who wait for Him."

I plan to take some time off from the blog to do some more working - and waiting. In the meantime, I hope this verse continues to encourage hearts and proclaim the amazing GOD we serve!
