Yesterday, May 21 we enjoyed spending the national holiday quietly as a family. We returned to a place Pedro and I had previously visited without our children and which holds an indelible place in the Chilean consciousness. It is a place haunted by history, one which when we mention our visits there evokes surprise and for some, even a hint of horror.
It is a town nearly lost in the drifting sands of time. Its name - Pisagua.
