Yesterday evening it began to rain here in Santiago, and the rain continued strong and steady throughout the night hours. As crazy as it sounds I loved it! It has been a long time since I have seen or heard a good rainfall. In fact, I think the last rain I experienced was in Haiti last October.
The result of rain in Santiago is best seen by the light of day, when a glimpse at formerly barren mountaintops reveals a fresh sprinkling of pristine white snow. It is gorgeous and a sight I cherished while growing up in this city. In Iquique we have neither rain nor snow - which I suppose has its owns benefits - but I do miss it sometimes.
I will attempt to get a photograph to post later today. In the meantime I am off to deal with less joyful things such as a trip downtown to try and get legalizations on various documents (one of which we just discovered was incorrectly stamped in the States and may well get rejected after months of waiting for it to finally arrive in Chile, grrr.)
Nonetheless, "This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it." Amen!
