Men's Ministry: Retreat

(Since obviously the men's ministry is not something I can write about with any level of expertise, I have asked my dear husband to be a guest blogger for a couple of posts on the subject. Enjoy!)

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. ~I Corinthians 15:58

Recently the men from our church had our first ever men's retreat. The verse above was our theme for the event. It was a great retreat, and thanks to the vision of Pastor Alejandro Armijo we had the retreat on the beach under a large tent structure, where we ate our meals, had our worship and teaching time, and even slept. We were literally only 30 -40 yards from the crashing waves, which was a great sound block for the thunderous snoring that took place the one evening we were there. As you can see from one of the pictures below, we lacked nothing when it came to some of the creature comforts. We had electricity for music, computer needs, lights and sound equipment. Also the food was great thanks to our brother Jaime Munoz who planned all the meals.

The men came away very encouraged and challenged to remain steadfast and unmoveable in their faith. We look forward to having another retreat next year if not sooner.

I think our church needs to have something like that for the men. It is so important for them, we women have our weekly Bible study together and yearly retreat, but the guys haven't done anything like that.
