Thankful for Protection

I had a car accident this morning.

We live one block from a major road in Iquique, and our usual commute includes a left-hand turn across that divided intersection. There is no stoplight; just a stop sign on our corner. So the accident was my fault - I thought the coast was clear, but suddenly a black taxi that I had totally not seen (we think it was blocked by a black truck that had been turning further down the road) was rushing towards us.

A few seconds later, and I would have been another foot across the intersection, and we would have received the full brunt of the collision on the driver's side of the car. I am so thankful for God's protection - I braked; the taxi driver braked; and instead only our fenders connected. His car was worse than the one I was driving (unfortunately not our own, but belonging to our co-worker who was incredibly gracious when he arrived to the scene of the accident and accompanied us to take care of the subsequent details.) Repairs were needed to a panel on his passenger side and the front passenger side light needed to be replaced.

But, as our colleague said, a few seconds later and this accident would have been about something completely different. Both Eva and Isabel were in the car with me. So I am truly thankful for the Lord's protection!

Unfortunately, life in Chile once again! Praising God for His protection! There's a reason I won't drive down there!

I read your update and visited your blogs today for the first time in a while. We're so happy y'all have arrived in Iquique and will be praying especially for the kids' schooling and for Eva and the others as they begin school in March. So thankful with you for God's protection.
I'll be "praying the date of June 24" with y'all.
