Artist In Residence

Our "artist in residence" is Eva, who simply loves to paint and color and create.

She is pictured here with some of her recent works of art. Sometimes she can be a tough one to get to pose for a picture, but she was excited about this one!

In order from left to right, are the following creations: a starfish box and coloring book for her science project at school; a colored, cut and pasted picture of a yellow duck on blue water that she made for Daddy at school (because "Daddy loves my pictures and said he needed a new one"); a soda bottle turned painted picture of Eva and her dog (this was a spur-of-the moment art project that she did all on her own one afternoon after school); a clay elephant, also for a science project; a yarn and paint picture of a snail which she and Mom-Mom did together; and finally, a plastic pellet doggy we made yesterday which melts together when ironed (pretty cool!)

I love Eva's creativity and try to encourage her in this area because it is one that makes her happy and proud. When she sometimes feels down about other areas that may be a struggle for her, I try to remind her of this one in which God gives her a special delight. Recently I found out about a 4-week individualized painting class for children, and I'm hoping she'll be able to participate in that. I can't wait to see what she learns. I'm sure there will be some more pictures to come! :) :)
