Accidents, Accidents Everywhere

Yesterday morning on our way home from the kids' school, we passed the corner where we typically turn left onto a main road and saw that it was cordoned off with police tape. One small vehicle was stopped inside the area and several dozen bystanders were observing the scene. It didn't appear to be a car crash, but we later understood that apparently a pedestrian was struck by the small car and killed at that corner - a reality that is all too common here in Santiago.

Yesterday evening on my way home from ladies' meeting, I found my way blocked not far from home by more police tape, two battered cars and a mess of shattered glass and metal. Fortunately the passengers of the cars were walking about and seemed to be fine, but I was reminded again of how I need to thank God for His protection upon us each day on the streets of this big city.

I know that at any given time, there are friends in Christ praying for our safety here in Chile. On a day like today, I just want to say thank you for that. Who knows how many times arriving a minute early or a minute late, or choosing a different road to travel, has been used by Him to safeguard our comings and goings. Thank you, Lord, for your protection!
