Good, Busy Week

It has been a good, busy week. Monday I participated in the Counseling I class at the Facultad. I guess officially, I am something like a co-teacher but in reality I will just be present at all the classes and only teaching 4 out of 16 weeks. I am looking forward to it. There were four students in the class on Monday; two young single girls and two married women. I think it will be a great mix of experiences and insights!

Tuesday is Pedro’s day for teaching at the Facultad. Officially, he too is a “co-teacher” but his responsibilities are greater than mine. In fact, he already had to teach the entire lesson in Spanish on his first day! I think he had about six students. This is a difficult transition year for the seminary, especially financially, and there are only 16 full-time students enrolled. The school is in much need of prayer (and more students!) They truly have a quality program and quality teachers, but somehow the word isn’t getting out or perhaps the churches are simply not emphasizing the idea of Biblical studies to their young people …

Wednesday (today) we had our first ladies’ Bible study with nine moms from our missionary kids’ school. I am leading the study, but it is Beth Moore who is teaching it – we are doing her “Jesus the One and Only” study and I am very excited! I had heard that a group of moms were interested in doing a study and immediately I wanted to do one of Beth Moore’s, but didn’t have access to one and couldn’t afford a complete kit. Then, I “happened” to visit a friend’s garage sale and she had two complete kits which she gave me for free! It was exciting to see how God provided just what we needed in His own special way. Today, it was special to hear from the ladies how this study with other English-speaking women is exactly what they feel they need in this season of life and ministry. It is my hope and prayer that we will grow to know Jesus intimately and to befriend one another sincerely throughout the weeks ahead.

My other task on Wednesday is teaching an “ink stamping” elective for six 4th & 5th graders. We had our first class today, and the kids were great. It was lots of fun! After school, the missionaries had our monthly field team meeting so we didn’t get home until 8 pm … almost twelve hours after first leaving the house in the morning!

Thursday is our one “free” day for any kind of errands, so we have been planning to head downtown in hopes of legalizing all the necessary adoption documents. I am a little nervous!

Friday is Pedro’s day for teaching at the MK school, where he is the official music teacher this semester. He is teaching music theory to the elementary grades, and this will be his second week of classes.

So, a busy week … a good week … and we look forward to what God has in store throughout this semester. I know there will be challenges … surprises … but through it all, He will be faithful!
