The Kindness of Strangers

In the middle of January, I received a note from another member on a Christian adoption forum. Katie and I had never met, but she had read about our family on the forum and wanted to know if we could receive mail in Chile.

Next thing I knew, Katie and her children – Jaden (age 5), Drew (age 3) and beautiful Lauren (age 71/2 months and adopted domestically/transracially from the US) – had dedicated their time and energy and finances to putting together a care package for our family here in Chile.

There were such goodies as Crayola no-mess markers and paper; crayons; playdoh; scented creams for me; and super-sized American candies. We happened to receive the package while the kids’ cousins were nearby, so all six of them ripped into it and quickly divvied up the goodies! It was so fun and such a special blessing to us … the kindness of strangers who are now no longer strangers but sweet friends.

Thank you again, Katie and family!
