Among other things, the article points out these disturbing facts:

  • Haiti's poorest can't afford even a daily plate of rice
  • Cookies made of dirt, salt and vegetable shortening have become a regular meal
  • About 80 percent of people in Haiti live on less than $2 a day

This article also appeared in our local paper today and I shared it with my son at breakfast. He was rather incredulous. I again shared it with my family at dinner when as a group they had a bad case of the whines. We have so very much to be greatful for. It saddened me to listen to it after reading this. Our world is so deeply divided in the haves and the have nots. And honestly, there are very few if any in America that truely fall into the have nots after you read such an article
