On New Year’s Eve

The closing of another year,
Remembering all that we’ve held dear …
The joys, the hopes, the sorrows too
Which moments turn our hearts to You.

The Maker of this world that is
And we each by creation His;
Our victories and failures fall
Under Your gaze that sees them all.

As to another year we’ve turned
We hope that in this one we’ve learned
To hold our loved ones closer still
And to our God, surrender will –

To trust His ever-faithful plan,
To show His love to fellow man;
To make each day count as it passed,
For His return will come at last!
