It’s been some time since I have written about the churches we have visited since arriving in Chile. In 13 Sundays we have attended 12 different churches! All of them are unique and we have enjoyed getting to know our Chilean brothers and sisters in Christ in each one. We have a number more to visit and will probably be doing so until the end of January or February.
Two Sundays ago, we attended Iglesia Bautista Emanuel, a small church that my parents worked in when they first arrived in Chile over 25 years ago. They surprised us with a VERY old photograph of my sisters and I along with other church children from way back when, projected on the overhead screen! It was special to renew old acquaintances and we felt very warmly welcomed there.
Yesterday, we attended Iglesia Bautista Río Claro. There we were also greeted very warmly and enjoyed getting to know the people there. This is a fairly new church, only about 5 years old, but they have a large youth group and several young families. There are some significant needs among the youth right now – please pray for proper understanding and application of what the Bible teaches in every area of life.
Often, when we visit a church we are asked if we will return – or upon occasion, pleaded with to return and help in the ministry there! Please pray for wisdom as we will eventually need to decide in which church to remain and work during our next year in Santiago. We want to be where we can best be used, and most importantly where GOD wants us to be!
