September 11

Chile, 1973

United States, 2001

September 11 ... is not only a day of remembrance for the United States, but for Chile as well.

So began a news article I ran across this morning. Thirty-four years after the military coup in Chile, September 11 is still a somber day in this country. It is a day often marked by demonstrations and protests even though Chile now celebrates freedom and democracy. Decades-old wounds still run deep in the hearts and minds of many Chileans, both here and those who were dispersed abroad as a result of the events of that fateful day.

So today we to remember to pray for both of our countries - our patriotic home and our adopted home - and to be especially thankful that

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
- Psalm 34: 18

Steph,

Hola.
We were wondering about the retreat center in Michigan that you know about. We were wondering if you could direct us to the website or phone number or anything because we all want to go this November if possible. Thanks and good job on your blog. Looks like you are getting plenty of practice. You should see about doing web design for other missionaries.
