That Moment of Grace

This is a poem I wrote one day a few years ago when thinking about the pain I and other women have experienced with infertility, and what it would have been like to live in Jesus day and be healed like the woman who touched the hem of his garment. (It was later published in one of the Stepping Stones newsletters.) I have a little tune in my head that goes along with it ... who knows, maybe one day it will be a song. (:

"That Moment of Grace”

One lonely woman, scared and alone

Despised and rejected - oh, the hurt she had known

Risking it all just to be close to You

Believing that dreams can really come true

She touched the hem of Your garment,

The hem of Your robe

From out of Your healing touch, power flowed

Years of confusion, sorrow and pain

Erased in that moment, in that moment of grace

Sometimes I’m that woman, scared and alone

Looking for answers to the pain I have known

Seeking the healing that comes only from You

I want to believe dreams can really come true

If I could touch the hem of Your garment,

The hem of Your robe

From out of Your healing touch, would power flow?

Would my years of confusion, sorrow and pain

Be erased in a moment, in a moment of grace?

So this is my prayer,

For You are my only hope …

And this is my prayer,

That Your power will flow …

When I touch the hem of Your garment,

The hem of Your robe

From out of Your healing touch, may Your power flow

Years of confusion, sorrow and pain

Erased in that moment, in that moment of grace

I long for that moment … for that moment of grace
