Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop Christian arrived for their long-anticipated visit on February 21, and we enjoyed every minute of the six days we had together in South Texas. The grandkids were very excited to see them again after seven months of separation, and vice versa! (:
We planned a mini vacation to Brownsville and South Padre Island on Friday and Saturday. Pictures 1 & 2 were taken at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, a place where Mom and Dad had taken Stephanie and her sisters some 25 years ago!
Picture 3 was taken on the steps leading to the Port Isabel Lighthouse, which Mom-Mom, Pop-Pop, Stephanie, Eva and Isabel visited despite gale-force winds which kept them from venturing out onto the outer landing at the top of the lighthouse. We decided walking up all of those steep stairs (and two ladders!) should definitely count towards Isabel's therapy for the week!
Our trip to the beach on Padre Island was cut short by those same winds which created a very strong surf and sent biting gusts of sand and wind against our skin and into our eyes and hair. Picture 4 is of Pop-Pop trying to protect Isabel from the elements on the way back to our van!

On Sunday (Picture 5), we enjoyed having Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop come to Iglesia Bautista del Valle with us, and hearing Stephanie's dad preach in Spanish during the evening service. Tuesday morning came all too quickly, and we were very sad to see them go home.

I guess everyone is saying the same thing - It was really neat to see pics of your parents again. Do you remember what your dad did for me during a certain SCA incident? I'll never that!
