I will be the first to admit that I am not overly sentimental about paper crafts that add more clutter to our (already very cluttered) house. I do love seeing the pictures that the girls make, and keep the prettiest of these in a binder or sometimes even in a frame. But I do not keep every picture and craft that comes home from school or church, and fortunately the girls don't usually notice when the refrigerator is suddenly bare of pictures once again!
That said, I was surprised by how emotional I felt throwing away our homemade "garland" when taking down the Christmas tree this year. It was the first time the girls and I have made one of these traditional green and red chains, and the memory of doing it together is so sweet! I guess I felt that by throwing away the chain, I might be losing the memory as well.
So ... crazy as it may seem, I decided to photograph the paper chain before tossing it. And I decided to blog about it, since my scrapbooks are woefully behind and this is the closest I will get to journaling the memory for quite some time!

Great idea on taking a picture of the chain! It is a neat idea to take pictures of all the "artwork" that you want to keep a memory of but don't want to add to the clutter.
