Playing and Praying

Hardly a day goes by when the girls don't remember to pray for "baby Ian to come home soon." If Daddy and Mommy forget to mention this while praying, they are quick to remind us! The day we were setting up his (or her - we don't know for sure! but of course her name wouldn't be Ian then) crib, Isabel was so excited and exclaimed, "Oh, I can't wait! I just can't wait!"

The girls prayed faithfully for a baby brother or sister before Owen arrived, and I believe that someday they will look back on these very visible answers to their prayers as tremendous faith builders in their walk with the Lord. Pray that my faith would be as strong as theirs!

I had a special experience this morning while playing with Isabel and Owen. She loves to be the "teacher" and was instructing me to "read chapter two right NOW!" in the Bible she handed me. I flipped the pages and started reading a Psalm out loud without even looking at the number. When I reached the final verse, it was my life verse:

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;
your love, O LORD, endures forever -
do not abandon the works of your hands.

I could hardly believe it. I felt like the Lord was speaking right to my heart in the middle of playing with my child. He is still in control of this whole adoption situation. Praise the LORD!
