Owen's surgery was quite brief, as promised, and according to the surgeon it was successful. However, the surgeon did notice that Owen has an "elongated palette" which may (or may not) continue to cause some breathing obstructions. He opted not to address that in today's surgery but to continue observing Owen after he recovers from the adenoidectomy.
It was difficult to let Owen go into surgery and anesthesia alone! The doctor told us he would receive anesthesia through a mask and then would have an IV put in for antibiotics, as well as a breathing tube placed down his throat and into his windpipe to help him breathe during the surgery. We were able to join him in the recovery room afterwards, where he drank several ounces of juice and woke up only long enough to be changed into his own clothes before falling back asleep!
Owen is now sleeping soundly at home and will be on a treatment of Tylenol and antibiotics for three days. Otherwise, we are assured he will be back to normal even by this evening. Thank you so very much for all of your prayers - we appreciate them so much!

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord everything went well. I would have been so nervous too! I can't take any credit for prayers :) - I actually haven't been checking the blog for the last few days because my in laws were in so I didn't even realize he was having the surgery now until I looked today. Once again, so glad everything went well!!!
I was just praying for him today. I'm glad to hear the surgery was a success. Love you Steph! give Owen a big kiss for me!
