For those have asked for an update on Owen's health, here it is!
Call it parental instinct, but we just didn't feel that it was best for our little guy to be taking all these meds at once, so we chose not to give him three of the six until we had gotten a second opinion. I especially didn't feel comfortable with giving Owen an albuterol treatment via nebulizer every six hours, as I had been told by a couple of people that their doctors prescribed albuterol only as "emergency relief." (Bear in mind that we had 3-4 things going on at once: cutting a tooth, double ear infection, bad cold, and the possibility of allergies.)
So, today I took Owen to another doctor recommended to me. I was so relieved when he listened (very intently and for a very long time, I might add!) to Owen's lungs and didn't detect any wheezing at all. I was also very relieved when he said that there were three meds on the list I gave him that he definitely wouldn't advise using - and they were the three we had opted not to use! He did give us a different medicine, but only wants us to use that one kind for right now. He didn't think it would hurt to follow through with the pulmonologist visit that the first doctor had ordered, so we are going to do that on Wednesday. And, he did think that the rough breathing is more than just tracheamalacia because it has lasted beyond Owen's first year of life.
No definite answers yet, but I feel a lot more comfortable in proceeding in this manner! And it was a reminder to me again to listen to my heart when it comes to my children's needs - because Mommy and Daddy will always know their kids best!
