Dear Praying Friends,
We have discovered that e-mail does strange things at times! Somehow the update that was sent the day before I (Stephanie) traveled was only just received by a number of our prayer partners. So you may be surprised to hear that I am already safely home from my trip to Peru!
And what an encouraging, educational, fun, and full trip it was ... Our regular prayer letter will be going out within a few days with more details, but I will share some of the highlights here as well! Lima is a fascinating city, like most Latin American capitals a mixture of old and new, rich and poor. It is a dry and dusty place, very similar to Antofagasta, but outside the city limits and into the mountains, we enjoyed the conference on the grounds of a beautiful, grassy country club.
The conference was a special experience not only because of the messages and workshops that were taught, but even more so because of rubbing shoulders with men and women from countries such as Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador who are also impassioned to share Christ and His love through the avenue of crisis pregnancy ministry.
We (my mom, sister, and I) also spent time at the main crisis pregnancy center in Lima, meeting the volunteers and staff, reading through the materials that have been translated into Spanish, and learning about the methods of ongoing discipleship and ministry that have been effective in their culture. We left with a number of written materials, PowerPoint presentations, and other tools in the Spanish language, and with a burden to begin sharing this vision with our pastors and churches in Chile!
There is much more to share, so please look for our prayer letter in a few days! But for now, I would just say a heartfelt Thank You to those who made my trip possible through your prayers and your financial gifts. It was truly a blessing to me personally and, I believe, a benefit to our future ministry in Chile. Que Dios les bendiga (God bless you!)
In Christ,
Pedro & Stephanie Garcia
